For people already displaced by conflict and violence, climate change is an emergency on top of an emergency.
In 2019, a staggering 1,900 weather-related disasters caused unimaginable suffering for 25 million people in 140 countries and territories.
Disasters are intensifying. Wildfires, flooding and droughts are wiping out homes, disrupting food security and destroying livelihoods. Almost all of the world’s refugees and internally displaced people come from countries that are the most vulnerable and least ready to adapt to climate change.
Your compassion can make a difference. UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency is on the ground protecting families and helping to support, prevent, prepare and build resilience in the face of this emergency. But we need support from compassionate people like you to keep making a difference.
