Every year millions of people — women, children and families — are forced to flee their homes because of war, violence or persecution. At USA for UNHCR, we believe that every person has the right to seek safety — whoever they are, wherever they come from and whenever they are forced to flee. The painful reality is that more than 110 million people around the world have been forcibly displaced from their homes — the largest number in history — and the war in Ukraine, along with dozens of other emergencies, are adding more to this figure every day.
Seeking safety is a human right. Whoever they are, people forced to flee should be able to seek protection and be treated with dignity. Wherever they come from around the globe, people forced to flee should be welcomed. Whenever people are forced to flee — whether the threat is war, violence or persecution — everyone deserves protection.
As the number of people forced to flee grows by the day, it’s crucial that we act in solidarity and welcome people seeking safety from conflict. Let's build a movement of solidarity for refugees across the globe. Join USA for UNHCR and add your name to say: Every person has the right to seek safety.
